Fotografie + English: Replica A7V ‘SchnucK’ (Taken on June 24, 2017, Nikon D3200)

  • Replica WW1 era German Heavy Tank.
  • The A7V was Germany’s response to British tanks, which had first appeared on the Western Front in September 1916. Twenty were built and saw service between March and October 1918. They were armed with a 57mm gun and six MG08 machine guns. This needed an official crew of eighteen, but as many as twenty five men were often on board.
  • This replica represents chassis No 504, which was captured in August 1918 and displayed on Horseguards Parade in London until gifted to the Imperial War Museum during 1919. Sadly, it was broken up in 1922 with only the main gun saved. The only genuine survivor is in Australia.
