* The ‘Grizzly I’ was an M4A1 Sherman built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in Canada. 188 were produced during 1943 & 1944 for Canadian service. After the war a number were sold to Portugal as part of a NATO military assistance program.

* Many remained in service until the 1980’s and consequently there are several survivors.

* This relatively complete example is listed as ‘ME 12 27’ in museum records and is on display at the entrance to ‘The Tank Museum’.

  • Allied WW2 era Medium Tank
